Grandmaster Jack Wang is the founder and president of Hap Boxercise
Martial Art International. Hap Boxercise Martial Art is a blend
of Korean Hapkido, Western Boxing, The Filipino Martial Art: Kali
& Kick-boxing. Drawing from his more than 30 years experience
as a bouncer, bouncer trainer/director, GM Jack Wang created a
very powerful and effective self-defense and fighting system which
stress on its practicality and street-tested techniques.
GM Wang is
also a 9th Dan Korean Hapkido exponent and he was the most senior
disciple of GM Sunny Tan, founder of Flying Eagle Bong Hapkido.
When GM Sunny Tan was away from Singapore for a full decade from
the mid 80’s to 90’s, GM Jack Wang was appointed the
chief instructor of Flying Eagle Hapkido Association. He also
cross-trained in boxing, Karate, kick-boxing, Muay Thai, Philippines
martial arts (Kali), Shaolin Kung Fu & Taekwondo.
In 1991, GM
Wang was also nominated by the World Grandmaster Council based
in Florida, USA, and was awarded the ‘Grandmaster’
title.
GM Wang had
been in the martial arts scene in Singapore for many years. Not
only had he trained in various martial arts, he was also in the
security business, so martial art as a form of restrain &
control, & self-defence was also his career.
In 1988, he
went into the guard dog training business which brought him great
business success for many years. As a very well-known bouncer,
GM Wang also became the chief bouncer of the former Sparks Disco,
arguably the most happening disco in Singapore for many years
which had its share of incidents. He also started Reliance Security
where he trained and manage bouncers, a business which he continue
to run today.
GM Jack Wang
was once engaged to teach unarmed combat and baton techniques
to prison guard instructors, so that they can train batches of
prison guards. He also taught at community centres/clubs, and
private clubs. Gm Jack Wang has also taught many foreign students
from United Kingdom, France, and the United States.
GM Wang had
2 sons, the elder of which was a junior champion boxer when he
was young.
GM
Wang wanted to promote Hap Boxercise Martial Art in Singapore.
He is in the process of starting his own martial art school dedicated
to the teaching of Hap-Boxercise.
